Our Collection

Working together with small family farmers, whom we found to have the utmost love and respect of their craft,
we present each tea with its distinctive flavours and unique stories.

Tea Dynasty Black Ruby 18.jpg

Ruby No.18 | 台灣紅玉紅茶

Ruby 18, also known as Red Jade, is one of the most popular black teas in the East-Asian region.

Grown near the award-winning region of Sun-Moon lake in Nantou, where its beautiful environment is great for growing thick and rich tea leaves. Ruby’s cultivar resulted from a cross between a Burmese Assam tree and a Taiwanese wild tea tree – this most likely originated from the Japanese occupation of Taiwan.

Ruby 18 almost feels like a black tea yet exhibits elements of a Taiwanese oolong. It steeps red with aromas associated with cinnamon or mint – some say brandy.

Our Ruby 18 is a hand-picked tea and will go deliciously well with dessert!

Tea Dynasty Oolong Concubine Tea.jpg

Royal Courtesan/Concubine Tea | 貴妃美人

Gui Fei Oolong, also known as “Concubine Tea” or “Royal Courtesan” is a relatively recent varietal from Taiwan.

It is a rather elusive tea that varies from season to season as its unique aroma depends on the presence of a small insect – the Jacobiasca formosana or tea jassid. When bitten, the plant’s natural defences is stimulated resulting in a chemical reaction in the leaf. This change in the leaf yields an intricate, sweet honey-like aroma and taste to the tea.

When farmers first harvested this tea, the green leaves were surrounded by red edges which makes it look elegant and poised – thus its name.

Our Concubine Tea is a high mountain oolong and is entirely hand-picked.

Tea Dynasty Organic Black Tea.jpg

Organic Black Tea | 老樹紅茶

Our Organic Black Tea is from the indigenous Taiwanese tea tree.

This tea is organic as it is harvested from tea trees that are allowed to grow naturally in their wild state – no fertilizers, no pesticides.

After (Taiwan) Tea Research Extension Station officially recognised Ruby No. 18 as an ideal tea strain, attention was subsequently returned to the historical tea gardens of indigenous tea plants.

Local farmers who were unfamiliar with the tea strain started to reconsider its value and invested in cultivating and improving the processing of these tea trees. This tea steeps red with a rich natural aroma and a smooth taste.

Our Organic Black Tea is organic, hand-picked and does well both with or without milk.

Tea Dynasty Oolong Da Yu Ling.jpg

Da Yu Ling Oolong | 大禹嶺

Da Yu Ling is an exquisite, premium Taiwanese oolong from one of the highest tea gardens in the world which is recognised as some of the best.

The high elevation of the area causes the leaves to grow slowly, allowing it to develop a more concentrated aroma and a more complex taste. Da Yu Ling steeps up a golden hue and has smooth, fragrant floral notes with a lingering aftertaste.

Unfortunately, many Da Yu Ling tea gardens are being closed as the Taiwanese government repurposes the land for protection and erosion control so it’ll be increasingly difficult to come by.

Our Da Yu Ling oolong is a hand-picked, high mountain oolong (over 2200m!) and we recommend to brew it gong fu style where its flavour can be fully appreciated.
